Trip to Tennessee

I just got back from Athens, TN. It is beautiful there. My husband and I are trying to buy a piece of property near there that later (as in apx 7 years from now) we'll move to. It looks like a beautiful place to spend our retirement. We love everything about the area. The only down side is that jobs are scarce. Fortunately we won’t be looking for jobs. (come on money market funds, we're counting on you!!!)I'm really excited. I live in north Florida, and while our winters can be cold and damp they don't provide much opportunity for wearing lots of knitted outerwear, maybe a few days in late January or February, but not too often. I'm looking forward to experiencing 4 actual seasons during the year. And I can’t wait to go back to see the fall foliage. It ought to be spectacular.

September Socks

I'm trying my hand at making my first pair of socks. I'm not doing too bad so far. Of course I made two socks prior to starting this one. The first one I made was big enough for Big Foot. The second try was better but still a little big, and I didn't like the stitch pattern. You know what they say; third times a charm. At least I'm hoping this one will turn out right, so I can make its twin. One sock just won't do...
